Happy 4th of July!

We had a wonderful 4th of July this year. Every year we spend the holiday w/ our best friends the Lewis family who live in Spokane. We met Britt and Jeremy in college, in fact we kind of started dating our spouses around the same time. About 6 years ago we started spending the 4th with each other and have spent it together ever since. We've travelled a lot w/ the Lewis fam...in addition to being 4th of July travel buddies we've also been to Spain and Mexico together. Now we both have little ones so travelling isn't as "carefree" as it used to be but we still have a great time together.

This year we decided to go to Sun Valley. We were lucky enough to get a house to stay in that was free of charge! The best thing about the house was that it was located right on the river. It was a 4 bedroom place which was perfect for two couples and two kiddos. We rented bikes which was a lot of fun. The guys got to ride the bikes that pulled the trailers for the kids and Britt and I got to ride w/o pulling something/someone! We rode our bikes to dinner one night which was a blast. We had to ride home pretty quickly after dinner to escape the rain. The rain started coming down the minute we pulled into the driveway so we were happy to have barely missed it.
For the 4th we drove into Hailey and went to the annual 4th of July parade there. It ended up being a really nice day so we watched the parade and then sat outside at a local cafe for lunch. We made it home just in time for nap time and another downpour of rain. Right as the kids woke up, the sky cleared and it was sunny again. It was the strangest thing. That evening we walked up to "downtown" Ketchum for a carnival w/ live music, food and beverages. It was SO much fun. We even ran into our friends the Zimmerman's. We couldn't have asked for a better day. We treated ourselves to a nice brunch at the SV lodge on Sunday morning and then hopped in our cars and drove back to Boise. We feel so lucky to have friends like the Lewis's it's always fun and easy with them. Their son Pierce is an adorable little boy and he had so much fun with Reagan. We tease that these "family vacations" together might not be so cool once the kids are teenagers but for now....we love them. Here's some pictures from our fun weekend.
