Portland Marathon!

Kurt has been training the past few months for the Portland marathon. His friend Pat McCurry (who coaches the cross country teams at the College of Idaho) put him on a great training program. Kurt's been getting up at 5-5:30a.m. almost everyday for the past three months. He's done a combination of long runs, sprints, gym time, short runs etc. All of his training went into full effect this last weekend when he ran (and finished) the Portland marathon!! He had a goal of finishing in 3:45 and ended up finishing in 3:43!! I think under 4 hours for your first marathon is pretty dang impressive!!

Reagan and I made the trip with Kurt. We stayed at our friends the Henley's home in Vancouver, WA. Brooke and Joel (Henley) are expecting their first baby any day now are are pretty much sequestered to their home. We had such a great time with them (as always) and I think they liked having a baby in the house for awhile!! Their dog Ruger was put to the test while Reagan was in her booster seat. He was pretty much eye level with her food but never stole food from her, he was such a good boy.

After we got back from Portland, Reagan had her 1 year appointment w/ the doc. She's actually 13 months now so I am a little behind. She had to get 2 shots in each leg, the poor little girl. I always think its harder on Mom than the baby. She just stared up at me with tears in her eyes while they were poking her legs. Poor girl. Here are her stats at 13 months:

height: 60%

head: 100%+

The doc was actually a little nervous about how big her head was so we had to go get an ultrasound to make sure nothing was going on inside of there to make her head so big. The result was the radiologist saying...."she's fine! She just has a big head!" I think it's probably the fault of my side of the family, my Dad and I have enormous heads!! Anyway, Reagan had a clean bill of health! She's happy and healthy and growing every day. She is learning so quickly it's amazing. her favorite thing to do now a days is read! If we finish one book she reaches for another and hands it to us. The girl can't get enough!! She's not walking yet but is getting there. She's scaling the furniture all around the house and from time to time we will catch her standing with no hands holding on. Little dare devil!!
