Thanksgiving in Dallas!

We took a trip to Dallas for Thanksgiving this year so we could visit with my sister Laurie and her family. Reagan hasn't spent all that much time with her cousins Jack and Josie since she was a baby so we thought a trip to see them was in order! Jack is 6 and Josie is 3, they all had an absolute ball together.

We haven't flown that much with Reagan so we were nervous to see how it went. Being a pretty even tempered little girl, we figured she would be fine and she was an absolute joy. It was actually kind of creepy how smoothly our travels went. On time flights, no melt downs and no lost luggage.....weird....but we'll take it. Our trip took us through Denver then onto Dallas. 2 hours to Denver then an hour and a half to Dallas. I came prepared with a bag full of new toys and books and a DVD player of course. Here's a picture of Reagan on one leg of the trip w/ her panda headphones on.....

Once we arrived in Dallas the madness began. It took Reagan a little while to get used to her energetic cousins, since she spends most days with Mom and the occassional playdate here and there. She's never been surrounded 24 hours a day w/ other kids so it took awhile for her to adjust but she did so quickly and had a great time with them. Everyday included a group jump on the bed.....

We went to a science museum one day and they just so happened to have a Dinosaur exhibit going on. My sweet, feminine little GIRL is alllllllllllllllllll about dinosaurs lately. She knows the names of several of them and can tell you all sorts of things about them like "they have lonnng necks!!" or "hatch out of eggs" or "they have shaaarrrrrp teeth!!" the list goes on and on about dinosaurs, she loves them. SO we were thrilled to see there was a special dinosaur exhibit going on while we were in town. Josie was a little "nervous" about going into the exhibit and rightfully so, they even scared me a little bit. Reagan followed Jack into the exhibit without any fear, I was shocked. Here's some pictures from our time at the museum:

There was also lots of other cool "science-y" stuff at the museum, they kids had a great time exploring and learning:

This was cool, a room filled with a giant water table, equipt w/ ponchos for the kids.

The highlight of the trip was our visit to the Wild Animal Park in Dallas. I've always wanted to go to one of these places because the animals are out in the open and walk right up to your car. We used our rental car and Laur, Jack and Josie just crawled around the back of the SUV feeding animals. Reagan was feeling a little under the weather so spent most of the time on my lap unfortunately. Anyway, we got up close and personal w/ a lot of really cool animals. We had to hold Jack back from jumping out the window and trying to RIDE them....he was really excited to be there. Heres some pictures:

We were in Dallas for a week and just had a great time. It makes me wish that I lived closer to my sister, Matt and kids, we just had so much fun together. It's nice to reconnect with each other and watch your children become friends. It brings tears to my eyes just typing this. I love the Hands family so much and am so grateful to have spent this Thanksgiving with them. It's a trip I will never forget. Here's some other pictures from our time in Dallas:
